Workshop1: LinkedIn
The first workshop I attended was how to use LinkedIn and how to make the most out of your profile. LinkedIn is a large networking site for professionals and soon-to-be professionals, so making it look professional is important.
Pay close attention to spelling and grammar
Spelling and grammar are problems that are easy to avoid but make a huge impact. The workshop suggested starting your profile in a word processor so it will catch the mistakes for you.
Keyword optimization
Making good use of your keywords will make your profile easier to find and increases the chance someone important will see it. It works the same as search engine optimization, you want to strategically place keywords throughout your profile so that someone looking for your skills will be able to easily find you.
Keep it professional
Both your name and photo should look professional. This is not your social networking sites for finding friends, it’s for finding professional connections.
Personalize
You want something that gives your profile something that no one else has, something that sets you apart from the crowd. Professionals are not only looking for people with skills, but someone who knows how to use these skills in a creative and effective way.
